Today, NAATIP commenced a three-day validation session for the National Plan of Action on Trafficking in Persons (NAP-TIP) 2026–2030.

The event brings together key implementation and development partners from UNODC West and Central Africa, Attorney General’s Chambers & Ministry of Justice ,the Gambia, the Gambia and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), among others, to strengthen coordination and enhance our national response to trafficking in persons, as shall be implemented in the next five years.

UNODC representative Ms. Abimbola Adeyomi highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships and reaffirmed UNODC’s continued support to The Gambia’s anti-trafficking efforts.

NAATIP Executive Director, in her welcoming remarks, emphasized the significance of the NAP-TIP in guiding the work of the Gambia government in its anti trafficking efforts. Madam Dabo highlighted the apparent gaps in the current NAP-TIP, which will expire in December 2025, and noted the need for realistic costing alongside an efficient monitoring and evaluation framework. She urged the Taskforce members to contribute meaningfully during deliberations leading to the validation of the strategic document.

The Registrar General, Mr. Abdoulie Colley, delivered the official opening statement on behalf of the Honourable Attorney General and Minister of Justice, underscoring the government’s commitment to combating human trafficking.

This validation marks an important step towards implementing a comprehensive and effective National Plan of Action that protects victims, prevents trafficking, and brings perpetrators to justice.
