The National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons (NAATIP) today commenced a four-day validation workshop on the Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Training Manual and Facilitators’ Guide, taking place from 30th March to 2nd April 2026.

The workshop brings together members of the National Taskforce to combat Trafficking in persons . The taskforce is made up of key stakeholders drawn from various Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), reflecting a strong multi-sectoral approach in the fight against human trafficking.

Delivering remarks on behalf of UNODC, PROMIS project , Ms. Abimbola Adeyomi, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer at UNODC West and Central Africa, underscored the strong partnership between UNODC and NAATIP through the #PromiseProject in combating trafficking in persons. She emphasized the importance of developing standardized and practical training tools to enhance the capacity of stakeholders, strengthen coordination, and ensure effective prevention, protection efforts across the region.

She further encouraged participants to fully engage in the validation process, highlighting that their collective expertise and experiences are critical in producing a comprehensive and impactful training manual and facilitators’ guide.

In her opening remarks, the Executive Director of NAATIP, Isatou Dabo officially declared the workshop open while reiterating the significance of the exercise. She emphasized that the validation of these documents is a key milestone in strengthening national response mechanisms and ensuring consistency in training and awareness efforts nationwide.

She also called on all participants to actively contribute, collaborate, and bring forward practical insights that will enrich the documents, ensuring they are relevant, inclusive, and responsive to the realities on the ground.

At the end of the four-day engagement, the workshop is expected to produce a well-reviewed and validated TIP Training Manual and Facilitators’ Guide that will support capacity building, awareness creation, and effective implementation of anti-trafficking interventions across The Gambia.
